The History of Painting

This article will take you through the various stages of the painting timeline, it will tell you about, cave drawings, Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Van Gogh, and finally Pablo Picasso, and Salvador Dali.

To start off, painting first started getting popular around 17,000 years ago! The first paintings were the drawings in caves by our ancient ancestors, the cave men as they are called. These paintings were relatively simple. If you ever have seen a picture of the paintings, you would understand how much painting has evolved from that time period.

Now, lets move up on the timeline. Leonardo Da vinci, Michelangelo, and Van Gogh are known today as some of the absolute BEST artists ever to have exist! Let's start with Leonardo Da Vinci. He is by far most famous for his variety of things, such as hundreds of inventions, sculptures, and paintings, but this article will only cover his paintings. He is mostly known for the "mona lisa" and the "last supper". If you take a moment and actually study the detail you will certainly be amazed! Now let's move on to michelangelo you may know some of his famous artworks too, such as the statue of "David" and the Sistine chapel although he was known more for his sculptures he did indeed paint a bit. one of his best in my opinion was the conversion of saul which was painted due to the inspiration of the story of saul in the bible. Next is my personal favorite artist, Vincent Van Gogh. Most people would know him with just one glance at the painting "starry night". According to research his favorite color was yellow hence why almost all of his paintings have a bit of yellow in them.

And finally Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dali both amazing spanish artists Picasso was most well known for The "Weeping Woman" or "Geunerica" he was more like an abstract artist but i think we can agree he executed it perfectly. Salvador Dali is another of my personal favorites, his paintings were to be honest pretty bizarre showing scenes, such as a piece called "The Burning Giraffe"

In conclusion, these were all amazing artists and i hope this article helped you learn a bit more about the history of art. Remember if you have any questions feel free to ask, and we'll do our best to give you the information you need.
